As an educator and curriculum designer, my goal has always been to create learning experiences that are engaging and meaningful for students, which is often lacking in traditional school settings. I firmly believe that learners of all ages need and want learning experiences that are relevant, engaging, and personally significant. It has become my life's mission to ensure that all learners have access to these kinds of transformative educational opportunities that create impact at scale.

I completed my Ph.D. in Curriculum, Instruction, and the Science of Learning at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, where my research focused on the ways in which young children learn, primarily through the adults who support them (families, caregivers, teachers, etc.). My dissertation specifically explored the "home mathematics learning environment" of young children prior to entering formal schooling in kindergarten, and the role and perceptions of parents in that learning

My career in education has spanned over three decades, and during that time I have worked and taught at every level, from preschool to college. I discovered my true passion for curriculum design and development, which eventually led me to the EdTech sector.

In my most recent role as Senior Vice President of Curriculum Design at Age of Learning, I had the privilege of collaborating with an incredible team to build high-quality, engaging digital learning experiences for children. Building upon this experience and my research background, I have now founded Learnology Labs, a collaborative think tank devoted to studying learning across the human lifespan. Through this initiative, I aim to work with educators, researchers, and innovators to advance our understanding of how people learn and to develop cutting-edge solutions that enhance learning outcomes for all.

Here at Medium, I have found a platform to share my thoughts and ideas on education--past, present, and future. Through my articles, I hope to inspire others to think deeply and, at times, differently about the ways in which we all learn best. By engaging in meaningful dialogue and sharing insights from research and practice, I believe we can collectively transform education and unlock the full potential of every learner.
